Last year I made Crochet Flowers on Canvas after I spotted the most adorable Mason Jar Ziplock Bags at my local Michaels. Recently I came across more Mason Jar Ziplock Bags but this time in a tall version! I immediately thought crochet tulips would looks so pretty in it. My tulips are made with only 3 petals and are meant to be glued to the canvas, but you could easily add in a 4th petal. I used Lily Sugar ‘n Cream 100% cotton yarn because of the rich, bright colors and smooth texture. I like how this yarn doesn’t fuzz up like the acrylic tends to do.
Materials:
– Lily Sugar ‘n Cream yarn in Sunshine Yellow, Rose Pink, and Hot Green. Shop all colors at Yarnspirations.com! USE COUPON CODERCMLILY20 for 20% off!!!
– Size G Crochet Hook

– 11 x 14 inch Canvas panel. Mine was a flat piece of canvas but the ones that are back stapled to a frame would work too! THIS is the one I used.
– Hot Glue Gun
– Tapestry needle
– White 11 x 14 inch frame (optional). I purchased THIS ONE from Michaels Craft Store for $8 (and used my 40% off coupon!)
I made 8 tulips (4 pink and 4 yellow)
I made 5 leaves
I made 5 long stems and the others short (they don’t go into the mason jar).
Tip: hide short stems under leaves!
Tulip Petal Pattern: (make 3)
With pink or yellow yarn
Chain 7, SC in 2nd chain from hook, HDC, DC in next 3, 6 DC in last, now working on other side of chain, DC in next 3, HDC, 2 SC in last, join to first sc, fasten off weave in ends
You only need to leave a long tail one petal
Sew bottoms of two petals together.
Lay third petal resting in the middle of first two petals.
See picture tutorial below.
Tulip Leaf Pattern:
With Green
Chain 13, slip stitch in 2nd chain from hook, SC in next, HDC in next 3, DC in next 3, tc in next 3, DC in last and chain 2 and join to last,
Continue to SC around entire leaf. Make 2 SC when you get to the tip of leaf and 3 SC over the bottom chain 2, join to first SC. Fasten off and leave a long tail to sew leaf to stem.
Tulip Stem:
Chain anywhere from 30-50 (make stem as long or short as you’d like), Slip stitch in 2nd chain from hook and all the way down chain. Fasten off and leave ends to attach stem to bottom of tulip petals. See picture tutorial below.
Arrange flowers, stems and leaves to your liking before hot-gluing down to the canvas. You will cut the bottom of your mason jar ziplock bag to align with the bottom of the canvas. Cutting the bottom of the bag actually helps to easily arrange the stems inside the bag as well.
Hot glue tulips, stems and leaves to canvas. You can sparingly glue the pieces down in select areas.
Take out cardboard and glass from frame. Pop in the canvas!
This would be such a nice handmade gift for Mother’s Day or Teacher Appreciation! If you make these tulips please tag me on social media using the hashtag #RepeatCrafterMe
